Our kitchen is galley style, like in many old homes, and we are planning to knock out a wall to open up the space. Seriously, I’m almost annoyed saying “open up the space” because it’s such a buzz-phrase in the home renovation world. But anyway, that’s the plan.
From our last apartment, I know that Tristan and I don’t eat at counters with stools. Just being realistic. And a solid half the reason I wanted to buy a house was so we could have at least two other people over for dinner at a time. So although our kitchen is still quite small, we’re researching how to still get a kitchen table in there, someway, somehow.
One idea I like is the peninsula-to-bench-to-table idea. No idea if there’s a better term out there for this, but someone should definitely come up with one.
It looks a little something like this –
What do you think of this idea? My favorite ones are the oblong wood tables versus the round tables. Any other ideas we should consider? Would love to hear other ideas!
